SOP 1

 I listened to the Switched on Pop episode called Song of Summer 2020. In this episode they talked made a competition to decide what song is their Song of the Summer. They have 4 rounds each round having 3 songs. The first round is TikTok Jams and the winner of that round was "Savage Remix" with Megan Thee Stallion ft. Beyoncé. The second round is Protest Anthems and the winner of this round is Beyoncé's "Black Parade" . The third round is called Breezy Bops and the winner is Chloe x Halle's "Do It". The fourth and final round is Bummer Bangers and the winner is HAIM "Up From A Dream. The overall winner of all the rounds is "Savage Remix" by Megan Thee Stallion ft. Beyoncé.  Vox.  This week I listened to Nirvana's "Smells Like Teen Spirit". This is the "edgy" song of our youth as I would say. This song is one that not many of us know exactly what the lyrics are or what it means; but we all sure do love it. Whenever this song comes on it gives me a little bit of energy. The song is actually named after a deodorant called Teen Spirit. The song was also written to resemble the style of the band The Pixies, who is a band that front man of Nirvana greatly admired. This song was Nirvana's biggest hit and one that truly put them more known by mainstream culture. This song is known as the anthem of Generation X who is the generation of people after baby boomers. This generation is known for having troubles with self identity being after baby boomers and before millennials, this was a song that would speak to them. This is due to the song also looked at as breaking norms from groups before it just like how Gen X would with their parents. Kurt...
