Week 5
This week I listened to Nat "King" Cole's "Nature Boy". This was a very calming and melodic song and to me was very soothing. You are first greeted by Cole playing the piano and stops for a second to start his singing. Personally I think he has an incredible voice and to sing in such a slow tempo as he does is amazing. The song has very few words stretched through the 3 minutes but gave a powerful message. The song talked about a boy who traveled many places whos message simply was "The greatest thing you'll ever learn is just to love and be loved in return." It is a powerful message that even going around the entire globe, traveling and gaining knowledge, the greatest thing to learn is to just love and be loved. The songs instrumentals are Nat Cole on piano accompanied by a guitar and cello I believe. It is a beautiful song sung even more beautifully by Cole, this is something I could see at the end of a film of romance and deception.
I actually agree with your opinion very much. Truth be told the first time I listened to this song, it weirded me out just a little bit, because I'm much more of an upbeat, fast rhythm music kind of guy, but focusing more on the lyrics definitely changes the impact of the song, focusing on how we may be able to read millions of books, go hundreds of places, but the most important lesson is learn how to love, and how to be loved. Awesome insights!
