Week 9

This week I listened to Led Zeppelin's "Stairway To Heaven", which is a song that I truly love. I have older parents so songs and music like this I would listen to a lot when I was younger. It is a very long song rounding off at around 8 minutes, but if you are on a road trip, this song is a great one to pass the time. The way the guitar is played in this song is so iconic and one I feel like many people who play the guitar love to play. This song is very slow and melodic and seems like almost a sad song. But doing some research, the song is more about solidarity and brotherhood. I have and always will love listening to this song and just the good times and places I've gone while listening to this song. There is a conspiracy that the song when played backwards, the song is a message that worships the devil. But I believe that is only said because of how popular the song is and how often its played throughout its life span that people try and think of crazy things about it after enough time. The song is very iconic especially thanks to its guitar rift that has been played many time and in many situations, and one you might have possibly heard numerous times without even knowing it.

  1. I really love your post. dude. I grew up listening to a lot of classic, older musicians, but the only one we didn't listen to was Led Zepplin, but this makes me wish that I did. I've definitely heard some of the rumors that playing certain songs of theirs backwards would be like a call to the devil, but I never understood those sayings. It's nice seeing your input on it.

  2. My favorite thing about this song is the different, distinct parts. The song builds on itself, like a stairway. The beginning sounds like Frodo in the shire. With the guitar and the flute. Then the guitar starts to strum and the sound changes a bit. No more flute. No more shire. Eventually the drums kick it into a rock song. Guitar solo. The vocals get more intense. Cool song.
